After you found hotels in London, and you have chosen the place you would like to stay, it is time to plan your trips and excursions outside of London. Avebury, a World Heritge Site and National Trust Area, is the largest prehistoric monument of its kind, consisting of a henge and stone circles around the village of Avebury, some 30 kilometres south from the famous Stonehendge. It is said that the prehistoric stones date back to some 5,000 years. Decoding the time element of the monument is difficult because of the demise of the stones, either taken for house construction or deliberately destroyed for fear they represent pagan rituals.
