When I first began working at our local newspaper, I was assigned to the local art scene. It was an enjoyable job, yet I wanted to branch out and try other things. I slowly but surely worked my way up and now I cover a lot of news stories. The other day, we went to cover a news story on federal property and I didn’t have the required safety vest. Thankfully, the camera man the paper sent with me was prepared. He was able to whip two mesh safety vests out of his bag so we were covered. I’ve learned my lesson and will be better prepared from now on.
