The Diplomats were a great example of how mixtapes can be used to build a huge music career with. Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Hell Rell, J.R. Writer, .40 Cal, and Jha Jha. They started off with the “Diplomats Vol.1″ and proceeded to drop 4 more volumes. They also dropped “Byrd Gang Music” vol.1 and vol.2. Other mixtapes included “The Title Stays In Harlem”, “Who Else But Us?”, J.R. Writer’s classic series “Writer’s Block” volumes 1-3, Juelz Santana “Back Like Cooked Crack” 1-3, various Hell Rells, etc. The wearing of pink was really made popular by Cam’ron, as well as the saying “No Homo”. The Diplomats brought that Harlem swagger to the forefront of rap. Flashy jewelry, Lamborghinis, fur coats, Pelle leathers, etc. Dipset mixtapesare still bestsellers to this day.
